Museum of Light

“Museum of Light” is an artwork that explores how a space can be transformed by the light of projected images. By separating the light (the images) from the space (a 3DCG-rendered museum) and experimenting with their different combinations, this piece examines its central theme: the interaction between light and space. When different kinds of light are projected onto the same environment, the concrete walls and floors take on new appearances; conversely, projecting the same light onto different spaces causes the shape of the illuminated area to shift. In this stark concrete exhibition space with no additional lighting, the only source of illumination comes from a massive display. As a result, the color and motion of the images constantly redefine the character of the entire room. Furthermore, the inherent unpredictability and perpetual change of generative art serve to emphasize the interplay between light and space even more profoundly.

《Museum of Light》は、映像が放つ光によって空間が変化する様子を表現した作品です。光（映像）と空間（3DCGの美術館）を分離し、その組み合わせを試行することにより、本作のテーマである“光と空間の相互作用”を検証します。同一の空間に異なる光を投影すると、コンクリートの壁や床といった物理的要素が異なる表情を帯び、同一の光を異なる空間に投影すると、空間を満たす光の形状が変化します。コンクリート打ち放しの無機質な展示空間には照明がなく、巨大なディスプレイから発せられる光だけが唯一の光源となります。これにより、映像の色彩や動きが空間全体の在り方を刻々と書き換えます。そしてジェネラティブアート特有の偶然性や継続的な変化は“光と空間の相互作用”をいっそう際立たせます。
